Current Reading List

on October 23, 2012

Here are the books that we are currently reading. I have linked to the listing on Amazon where possible to make finding the books easier for anyone who may be interested. We have found many of these books at our local library as well.

6th grader:

Tales of the Greek Heroes – This book is the literature selection to correspond with our history curriculum. My son was thrilled to discover that the Introduction was written by Rick Riordan, his favorite author.

Eldest – This is his choice for free reading.

3rd grader:

D’aulaires Book of Greek Myths – This book is the literature selection to correspond with our history curriculum.

The Maze of Bones (The 39 Clues, Book 1) – This is his choice for free reading.

Family Read-Aloud:

The Lightening Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1) – My oldest has already read this book, but he is enjoying listening to it with the family and discussing it with the rest of us who are experiencing it for the first time.

Preschooler:

He wants to listen to any book he can get his hands on. : ) Each week I will focus on a few titles for his school work and the ones for this week are:

Ten Apples Up on Top

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

How Do Apples Grow?

Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel

Me:

Hold Onto Your Kids

Have your boys read the “Mysterious Benedict Society” books? Sierra and I have read them all, and we both absolutely love them. She keeps trying to convince Tyner to read them, because she thinks he’d like them.

    • I do have them here. I bought them for my middle son. He started the first one, but put it aside to read some Rick Riordan. It is nice to hear a good review of them. Maybe I will start one as a read aloud after we finish The Lightening Thief. I hope that Tyner will read them, too. It is so much fun to share a love of books with your family.
